  A  figure  of  speech  in  which  the  speaker  breaks  off  suddenly, 
  as  if  unwilling  or  unable  to  state  what  was  in  his  mind;  as 
  ``I  declare  to  you  that  his  conduct  --  but  I  can  not  speak  of 
  that  here.''
