  2.  Genuineness;  the  quality  of  being  genuine  or  not  corrupted 
  from  the  original. 
 
  Note:  In  later  writers,  especially  those  on  the  evidences  of 
  Christianity,  authenticity  is  often  restricted  in  its 
  use  to  the  first  of  the  above  meanings,  and
