Brothel \Broth"el\, n. [OE. brothel, brodel, brethel, a
prostitute, a worthless fellow, fr AS ber['o]?an to ruin,
destroy; cf AS bre['o]tan to break, and E. brittle. The
term brothel house was confused with bordel brothel. CF
