  A  plant  of  the  genus  {Marrubium}  ({M.  vulgare}),  which  has  a 
  bitter  taste,  and  is  a  weak  tonic,  used  as  a  household  remedy 
  for  colds,  coughing,  etc  [Written  also  {hoarhound}.]
