  an  illuminator  of  books.] 
  1.  One  whose  occupation  is  to  adorn  books,  especially 
  manuscripts,  with  miniatures,  borders,  etc  See

  2.  A  condenser  or  reflector  of  light  in  optical  apparatus; 
  also  an  illuminant.
