  Situated  upon  attached  to  or  growing  out  of  some  part  -- 
  said  especially  of  the  parts  of  the  flower;  as  the  calyx, 
  corolla,  and  stamens  of  many  flowers  are  inserted  upon  the 
  receptacle.  --Gray.
