  Pertaining  to  the  reception  or  the  giving  out  of  equal 
  quantities  of  heat  by  a  substance.  --Rankine.

  exhibiting,  on  a  diagram  of  energy,  the  law  of  variation 
  of  the  pressure  and  density  of  a  fluid,  the  one  during  the
