  Nereus,  a  nymph  of  the  sea,  fr  Nhrey`s  Nereus,  an  ancient 
  sea  god;  akin  to  nhro`s  wet,  Skr.  n[=a]ra  water,  cf  Gr 
  na`ein  to  flow.]
