  1.  (Fort.)  A  work  having  two  parapets  whose  faces  unite  so  as 
  to  form  a  salient  angle  toward  the  enemy. 
 
  2.  A  step  or  vertical  offset  in  a  wall  on  uneven  ground,  to 
  keep  the  parts  level.
