  1.  (Zo["o]l.)  A  northern  duck  ({Dafila  acuta}),  native  of 
  both  continents.  The  adult  male  has  a  long,  tapering  tail.

  {spike-tail},  {split-tail},  {springtail},  {sea  pheasant}, 
  and  {gray  widgeon}.
