  Shoddy  \Shod"dy\,  n.  [Perhaps  fr  {Shed},  v.  t.;  as  meaning 
  originally,  waste  stuff  shedor  thrown  off.] 
  1.  A  fibrous  material  obtained  by  ``deviling,''  or  tearing 
  into  fibers,  refuse  woolen  goods,  old  stockings,  rags,
