  A  suborder  of  serpents  including  those  which  have  tubular 
  erectile  fangs,  as  the  viper  and  rattlesnake.  See  {Fang}.

  colubrine  serpents,  which  are  destitute  of  fangs;  and 
  the  {Opoterodonta},  or  {Epanodonta},  blindworms,  in 
  which  the  mouth  is  not  dilatable.
