  In  villages  of  the  Philippine  Islands,  a  kind  of  townhall.  At 
  the  tribunal  the  head  men  of  the  village  met  to  transact 
  business,  prisoners  were  confined,  and  troops  and  travelers 
  were  often  quartered.
