  The  serum,  or  watery  part  of  milk,  separated  from  the  more 
  thick  or  coagulable  part  esp.  in  the  process  of  making 
  cheese. 
 
  Note:  In  this  process,  the  thick  part  is  called  {curd},  and 
  the  thin  part  whey.
