Any one of several species of Old World warblers, esp. the
common European species ({Sylvia cinerea}), called also
{strawsmear}, {nettlebird}, {muff}, and {whitecap}, the
garden whitethroat, or golden warbler ({S. hortensis}), and
the lesser whitethroat ({S. curruca}).
