  A  small  three-masted  vessel,  with  projecting  bow  stern  and 
  convex  decks,  used  in  the  Mediterranean  for  transporting 
  merchandise,  etc  It  carries  large  square  sails,  or  both 
  Xebecs  were  formerly  armed  and  used  by  corsairs.
