  Dan.  &  Sw  vrist,  and  perhaps  to  E.  writhe.] 
  1.  (Anat.)  The  joint,  or  the  region  of  the  joint,  between  the 
  hand  and  the  arm;  the  carpus.  See  {Carpus}.
