Pineapple \Pine"ap`ple\, n. (Bot.)
A tropical plant ({Ananassa sativa}); also its fruit; -- so
called from the resemblance of the latter, in shape and
external appearance, to the cone of the pine tree. Its origin
is unknown, though conjectured to be American.
