  Blende  \Blende\,  n.  [G.,  fr  blenden  to  blind,  dazzle,  deceive, 
  fr  blind  blind.  So  called  either  in  allusion  to  its  dazzling 
  luster;  or  (Dana)  because  though  often  resembling  galena,  it 
  yields  no  lead.  Cf  {Sphalerite}.]  (Min.)
