A leguminous climbing plant of the genus {Mucuna}, having crooked pods covered with sharp hairs, which stick to the fingers, causing intolerable itching. The spicul[ae] are sometimes used in medicine as a mechanical vermifuge. [Written also {couhage}, {cowage}, and {cowitch}.]
