The bone or cartilage of the tarsus, which articulates with the fibula, and corresponds to the calcaneum in man and most mammals. From Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) [web1913]: Calcaneum \Cal*ca"ne*um\n.; pl E. {-neums}, L. {-nea}. [L. the heel, fr calx, calcis, the heel.] (Anal.)
