[L. ladanum, ledanum, Gr la`danon, lh`danon, fr lh^don name of a shrub, mastic; cf Per. l[=a]dan, l[=a]den. Cf {Laudanum}.] A gum resin gathered from certain Oriental species of {Cistus}.
