See {Place}.] (Zo["o]l.) a A European food fish ({Pleuronectes platessa}), allied to the flounder, and growing to the weight of eight or ten pounds or more b A large American flounder ({Paralichthys dentatus}; called also {brail}, {puckermouth}, and {summer flounder}.
