  of  the  Alps,  due  to  the  indraught  of  a  storm  center 
  passing  over  Central  Europe.  The  wind,  heated  by 
  compression  in  its  descent  from  the  mountains,  reaches 
  the  base,  particularly  in  winter,  dry  and  warm.
