  The  earth;  earth.

  earthy  substance  consisting  of  burnt  gypsum,  aluminium 
  silicate  (kaolin),  or  some  similar  ingredient,  as 
  magnesia.  It  is  sometimes  used  to  adulterate  certain 
  foods,  spices,  candies,  paints,  etc 
 
  {Terra  cotta}.  [It.,  fr  terra  earth  +  cotta,  fem.  of  cotto
