  The  name  first  given  in  England  to  the  red  wines  of  M['e]doc, 
  in  France,  and  afterwards  extended  to  all  the  red  Bordeaux 
  wines.  The  name  is  also  given  to  similar  wines  made  in  the 
  United  States.
