  the  palmyra  tree,  popularly,  toddy,  fr  t[=a]?  the  palmyra 
  tree,  Skr.  t[=a]la.] 
  1.  A  juice  drawn  from  various  kinds  of  palms  in  the  East 
  Indies;  or  a  spirituous  liquor  procured  from  it  by 
  fermentation.
